Kairũ is over 100 years old and lives in Embu on the slopes of Mt. Kenya/Mt. Kĩrĩnyaga (the mountain with brightness/glaciers).
Over 10 years of documenting their conversations in Kiembu, their first language grandson Njerũ rehlised that they couldn’t share or pass on these stories and lessongs to their nibbling Taraji who lives in the capital city Nairobi, and doesn’t understand Kiembũ, only speaking English and Kiswahili.
Njerũ set out to find ways to translate the stories into other accessible and current mediums that would also teach Taraji Kiemtu. and all future generations.
Cũcũ Studios was born to grow the global village (collaborations) needed to realise this preservation work in Kenya and around the world.

Kenyan born Njerũ is a founder and creative producer of Cũcũ Studios. Initially trained as engineer, they have discovered their creativity and love of story telling later in life and are passionate about enabling that discovery in others.
Former CEO and Chief Story Teller for Pan-African entertainment company KUGALI, Njerũ has led global creative teams and partnerships and has devoted their life to supporting and enabling more African and indigenous story tellers and platforms.
