It takes a village to carry a story forward

CũCũ Studios honours the wisdom of our elders, our cũcũs, our storytellers, singers, growers, makers and memory keepers.

We preserve oral knowledge, language, songs, stories and land-based wisdom, then translate them into accessible creative forms.

We work with families, communities, artists and partners to carry indigenous knowledge into books, film, music, animation and interactive experiences.

It is our people that are our wealth. Culture is not only remembered in books. It is carried through people, places, language, food, music, land and story.

Our Story

CũCũ Studios began with family, language and memory. What started as conversations with one elder became a wider commitment to cultural preservation.

What We Steward

We steward knowledge, land, story, community and regeneration. Each area supports the living systems that create the conditions for culture continue.

Our Initiatives

Our initiatives turn preservation into practice. They connect archives, animation, gardens, markets, food, coffee, learning and community work.

What If You
01.

Knowledge

We preserve wisdom passed through language, oral history, craft, ecology, music, food and everyday practice.

02.

Land

We honour land as a living archive, holding memory through soil, seeds, trees, water, farming and place.

03.

Story

Translate oral into creative forms, including books, film, music, animation, visual art and interactive experiences.

04.

Community

We build with families, elders, artists, growers, educators and partners who believe preservation is collective work.

05.

Regeneration

We support practices that restore culture, strengthen belonging and help communities imagine living futures.

Uli and Tata’s African Nursery Rhymes

Uli and Tata’s African Nursery Rhymes follows two children as they discover songs, stories and nursery rhymes from across Africa.

The project grows from cultural heritage archives and turns preserved oral memory into joyful animated stories for children.

It reflects the CũCũ Studios mission: to keep indigenous knowledge alive, accessible and loved by future generations.

Our Commitment

Cũcũ Studios exists to listen before documenting and to honour elders as knowledge holders, guiding communities in shaping their own narratives.

We will work with communities, not around them.

We will translate wisdom with care and context.

We will create work that future generations can inherit.

We commit to making this process respectful, collaborative, and enduring.

We will be your partners, collaborators, and — when needed — careful stewards of ancestral knowledge and cultural continuity.
